BBC: Price of Football: Full results 2016
|
Some surprising bits and pieces.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37953195
Did you know we have the most expensive pie in the entire PL? (£4.10) And that chelsea have by far the cheapest, at a recession busting £2.50?
Or that at £2.40 we have the second most expensive cup of tea, with only Liverpool and Man Utd's costing more at £2.50? And that chelsea and Palace have the cheapest at a quid?

It's all smoke and mirrors
SKY pays the clubs the real money, all of this tittle tattle like tea and pies is pocket money to the clubs so it just goes to show HOW FUCKING GREEDY they are by charging this much, and our club is one of the very worst

I pulled the stuff about pies and cups of tea out of their tables, it wan't highlighted in the article. I was just taking the piss because to me, at 5:30am or whenever it was I posted it, including things like that seemed a bit trivial/daft.
That said, I am still surprised that chelsea have the cheapest of both..
They don't highlight anything, about any club. It's just the prices of a range of things, listed by club.

Funny they don't mention that we have the second lowest cost season ticket. Hull being the lowest. The BBC have to get a dig in about tea and pies first.

Not really irrelevant as I'm highlighting that, despite the cost being high, there are plenty of alternatives so people should just stop moaning about everything because it gets fucking boring.

Irrelevant.
As this article isn't comparing what "nearby food outlets closest to a teams stadium offer the best prices", it is comparing stadiums food prices.
Weird argument to make.

I think that we only get a proportion of the sales on a match day over a certain figure, although I've forgotten what that proportion is, and the point where it starts to get paid.
And I don't know if that point has ever been reached.

I thought we didn't get any of the money for food and drink sold in the ground?

If only we had a couple of shopping centres nearby which had loads of places that sold cheap food and drink.

Articles like this almost allow the clubs to justify ridiculous prices though. The true fact of the matter is football as a whole is overpriced and poor value for money currently.
I'd like to know how many bottom priced season tickets were actually available at that rate, bet with some its only a handful.
Furthermore how much they've been bumped up every year on trend.
Meanwhile a big stat left out which would be very interesting is the clubs away travel, cost and subsidisation offered, not just the ticket.

What's the value for money of the tea?
£1 for a cup of undrinkable shit is beaten by £2.40 for something it's possible to enjoy.
Even a coffee devotee like me can sometimes (well, about once a year) enjoy a cup of tea.
